Policies and Submittal Instructions

General Information: 
Registration form and payment must be received 3 weeks prior to your first date preference. If payment is not received by your balance due date, scheduled programs will be cancelled. Sites will need to provide a table and space behind one table that only Zoo staff can accessFor animal safety, we will not bring animals to OUTDOOR programs where temperatures are 90°F or higher. Also for animal safety, we cannot perform programs farther than 60 miles away from the Zoo. Please see below for additional mileage fees.

Group Size: 
Classroom programs may not exceed 35 participants including teachers, parents, aides and chaperones. If class size exceeds 35 participants, an additional program charge will be added to the balance. Community Festival Booths and Science Night programs do not have a maximum capacity.

Program Modifications: 
Our programs are created to be engaging, fun-filled and highly interactive. Should there be a need to modify the program due to time limitations, age of participants, space available, or any situation in which the program cannot be performed as intended, an additional fee of $100 will be added to the balance.

Cancellation Policy: 
Patrons who provide written notice of cancellation to education@houstonzoo.org on or before 3 weeks (21 days) prior to the program date will receive a full refund.  No refund will be issued after this date.  Program and date changes must be made at least 3 weeks (21 days) prior to the program date and are subject to availability and $25 rescheduling fee.  The Houston Zoo reserves the right to cancel any program due to inclement weather or other unforeseen circumstances, in which case a full refund will be provided.  Cancellations are official upon receipt of confirmation from the Houston Zoo.
